The convening of leaders, researchers, innovators, policymakers, development partners, and science and technology actors at the inaugural Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation for Society (STRI) Week 2026 marks a significant milestone for advancing research-driven development in Kenya and across Africa.

Researchers and innovators will showcase scientific excellence and innovative solutions that address real societal challenges during the May 18–22 2026 event at KICC, Nairobi. The event will also feature high-level speakers and thought leaders from government, academia, industry, and development organizations who will share insights on the future of Kenya’s research, science, technology, and innovation landscape.

Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions, participants will engage in important conversations on emerging innovations, research commercialization, digital transformation, policy development, and the role of collaborative partnerships in shaping sustainable and inclusive development across the country.

The national platform dedicated to bridging science and society creates an important space for collaboration, knowledge exchange, innovation showcasing, and partnerships that can accelerate sustainable development and strengthen the impact of research on communities.

For HERI Africa, this convening represents an opportunity to engage with key stakeholders shaping the future of science, technology, research, and innovation, while contributing to conversations on evidence generation, education leadership, and research uptake for societal transformation.

The event, themed “Igniting Innovation: Bridging Science and Society for Sustainable Development”, focuses on connecting academia, industry, government, innovators, and development actors, aligning strongly with HERI Africa’s commitment to strengthening higher education and research ecosystems in Africa.

We invite all participants and partners attending the event to visit us at Booth Number 86 to learn more about HERI Africa’s work, partnerships, and initiatives supporting higher education, research, and innovation across the continent.

We look forward to engaging in conversations, new collaborations, and shared learning throughout the week.
